Reaching Goals (I)

We set out in life to achieve certain things, a lot of things mostly. We project into the future, near or far, the individual we hope to become, with certain achievements proposed to accomplish, that will set us apart from others, that will afford us a level of satisfaction, in the various spheres of life.
In our bid to accomplish such personal projections, we make some mental plans, definite or vague, we chart a course we wish to follow, we set GOALS and targets, and then hope we achieve our set goals.
We set out with the initial zeal and enthusiasm, marching forward in all magnitude and energy, pushing ahead and pulling where and when necessary, with a picture in our mind, of that which we desire to accomplish....
Suddenly the going begins to get tough and the once smooth road rough, our zeal begins to wax cold, our enthusiasm whittles and withers, doubts begin to creep in, the once clear and distinct picture begins to fade and with each little passing moment, begins to drift apart so far away from our reach. At this moment, we are tempted to abandon and forget our goals.
A lot of businesses have died at this stage, a lot of dreams never saw daylight, a lot of arts never were expressed, a lot of "would have been men" have ended up boys at this stage.
Achieving goals have never been cheap and easy. Even a goal in a football match requires formation, passes, dribbles, tackles, shootings, throwings, etc. The road to our goals is never smooth, neither is it broad and short, Hence, we should expect some difficulties, blockades, denials, refusals, discouragements, stumbling blocks, criticisms and even condemnations. But at these moments of despair, trials, challenges, and twilight of loss of hope, in order to make it through, we must focus on our goals, fan the embers of hope, rise up quickly whenever we fall, hold steadfast to the picture of that individual which we desire to become, think often of the feelings of fulfillment associated with our desired accomplishments and most importantly never give up......
